Since the start of shooting season, we’re happy to say that we’ve been inundated with bespoke commissions for new shooting attire. Whilst the ready-to-wear remains as popular as ever, many keen guns are opting for our bespoke service.
Our tweeds come from the Lovat Mill in Scotland, widely acknowledged as the home of tweed since 1826. The world-famous cloth is renowned as being extremely hardwearing and versatile with a choice of over seven hundred different patterns.
When it comes to tweed, the 14oz, single-breasted Norfolk jacket in particular represents the epitome of classically understated British tailoring created for maximum functionality. It features a higher armhole that not only suppresses and elongates the waistline but also allows for a little extra reach. The chest part is hand padded internally, not only to ensure the perfect shape but also to reinforce the fore-shoulder and provide hidden kick-back support. Inside, you’ll find a working lining with pleats either side that further aid ease of movement in the back area and underarms, as well as inside pockets with hidden slips for those last emergency cartridges or a hip flask. The outer welt pockets have been sewn by hand on the reverse and fore part, with extra cloth on the inlays creating a pocket five times stronger than average.
For bespoke breeks, jackets and coats, we recommend allowing eight to ten weeks to incorporate a minimum of two fittings. However, we are able to accommodate express orders upon request.
Whatever you may need as we head into January, from shooting attire to accessories and cartridges, please feel free to come to the shop when convenient to browse our collections. Head of Bespoke, William Field, and Head Tailor, Juan Carlos, will be on hand and more than happy to help.
