Focus on: Country shirts

It’s a pleasure seemingly out of all proportion when, early one Friday evening, we find ourselves packing a bag in preparation for a weekend out of town. The prospect of old friends, familiar fireplaces and frosty mornings, good long lie-ins followed by good long baths and good long breakfasts raises the spirits like nothing else.

Relaxed and relaxing thought the atmosphere will be, and though we know that we could probably turn up in a boilersuit without putting even the most distinguished noses out of joint, we doubtless find ourselves digging out our finest and favourite clothes from the chest of drawers. Those new trousers. That rather extravagant jersey we couldn’t quite justify but bought nonetheless. Oh, and a country shirt or two is as essential to a weekend away as a pair of wellies and something fragrant for one’s hostess.

And that, of course, is why we recommend a quick squiz at our New Year sale before it finishes. For one thing, there is at least twenty pounds off our two-fold pure cotton Tattersall check country shirts. They have a classic Jermyn Street cut that’s generous round the shoulders for unimpeded movement, two-button cuffs and also extra-long tails to ensure everything stays tucked in as it should.

Similarly, you can save fifty pounds on our rather luxurious, wonderfully warm cashmere blend country shirts. They’re available in green, grey or sky blue Prince of Wales check as well as an exceptionally smart sky blue houndstooth pattern.

And on the subject of luxury, we also offer bespoke and made-to-measure shirts.

So fear not: wherever the weekend takes you this winter and whatever the weather may throw at you, we have you covered.
