Focus On: AW15 Tweed Overcoats
27 Sep 2015
Yes, it’s that time: it’s autumn coat season. There’s no denying the chill in the air that calls for tweed, knitwear and artful layering. Our go-to style for the season – in town or country – is the tweed overcoat. And although the term may be overused, it’s a classic. The Oliver Brown AW15 collection sees the introduction of new tweeds, so you’ll find our traditional single and double-breasted overcoats updated in a range of handsome new tweed patterns, all sourced from our British woollen mill. Our favourite has to be the sumptuous new tweed blended with cashmere and angora – it looks and feels divine. The overcoats are all expertly tailored to exacting standards with working button cuffs, working pockets and a full lining. They’re designed to be worn over suits, so the extra room that's needed has been factored in to the design process – simply order your usual size to ensure a perfect fit. The choice between the single and double-breasted styles is personal; some prefer the simplicity of the single-breasted overcoat and no matter your size or shape, you can't go wrong. However, the resurgence of traditional mid-century tailoring has brought the double-breasted style back on the fashion agenda (let's call it the Mad Men effect) and it's now more popular than ever. It's best suited to tall or medium builds, but there are no hard and fast rules. So which to choose? Take a look at our Tweed Single-Breasted Overcoat and our Tweed Double-Breasted Overcoat and decide for yourself.
