How To Dress For The Great British Summer
20 Jun 2016
Ah, the great British summer. Never one to let us grow complacent, summer likes to keep us on our toes. Rain one day, beautiful sunshine the next, and sometimes three seasons all at once. But for that we should be grateful; not only does it give us a conversation topic for every social encounter, but it gives us the opportunity to get creative with layering. Now that summer has officially begun, don't be fooled: layering is still top of the 'getting dressed' agenda here in the UK. It's an art to be perfected with the clever use of lightweight jackets, breathable fabrics, knitwear and packable waterproof outerwear - just incase. For changeable days, we recommend layering our sleeveless lambswool sweater over a cotton shirt, such as our dobby shirt made from 100% cotton poplin. You'll want to swap your usual jacket for something a little lighter. Our single-breasted linen jacket is perfect for warmer summer days, or our unlined cotton jacket is a failsafe option our customers love. And if you're venturing out into the country, don't be caught short if the weather starts to change. We recommend always having a weatherproof jacket to hand, weather it's a packaway windproof and waterproof jacket that fits neatly into a bag, or a shooting jacket for the boot of the car. And while you're at it, ensure there's an umbrella in there too... So that's how to prepare for every eventuality, but what about what not to wear? Over the years we've learnt to never wear shorts unless you've checked the weather forecast. And secondly, white and cream are wonderful to wear during the summer months - but perhaps not head-to-toe in the countryside, for obvious reasons. Looking for more summer style updates?
