Hands up if you've never received socks at Christmas. No-one? Thought not. They're the fail-safe gift that keeps us stocked up for the year ahead. This year, we'd highly recommend giving a pair of high quality shooting socks, preferably in brilliantly bold colours and patterns you wouldn't normally buy for yourself.
With this is in mind, we asked Jim from Pennine about their wonderfully soft socks, and why they're ideal for wearing out in the field.
Can you tell us a bit about the history of Pennine socks?
The Pennine brand was established in Hucknall, Nottinghamshire, by a formidable lady called Sarah Bamkin who started by hand chevroning socks to supply to miners in the surrounding area.
What makes your socks different to the competition?
The unique process that sets Pennine apart from other manufacturers is many of our socks are made with a high quality 100% extra fine merino that's soft, luxurious and knitted with fully fashioned tailored legs. The final touches are the hand finished tops that give a superior fit.

What would be your quintessential pair for the season ahead?
Our most popular styles for this season are the
Chelsea shooting socks. They're classics - the ultimate field socks.
