Oliver Brown is the official Royal Ascot Licensee for Top Hats. This style of Top Hat is named after John Hetherington, presumed to have invented the top hat. It is made from melusine, a special long-haired fur felt that is the closest alternative to silk originals.

Top Hats - A History
From the late 1700s and through the 1800s top hats were ubiquitous, with gentlemen of all classes wearing them. But during the early 20th century, with increasingly informal attire, top hats gradually became saved for more formal occasions. This tends to be the case today -
