The SS22 collection from Oliver Brown celebrates the modern gentleman in all his forms, pursuits, and persuasions, with pieces to suit all occasions. Designed for life, in a harmony of colours, offering an eclectic mix of classic British tailoring and relaxed casual separates.

This collection delivers contemporary tailoring cut from a classic British tradition, the perfect mix of classic and contemporary styles. Designed by Oliver Brown designer Juliana Poslednik these versatile, timeless pieces are crafted to last longer and love forever.  We spoke to Juliana about the collection, her inspiration, what to wear to Royal Ascot and her love of linen.

1. Tell us about the latest Spring Summer collection from Oliver Brown?

As with any other Oliver Brown collection, we valued the heritage and traditions of the brand. We worked with linens made in the UK and Ireland, English mills and with high end cloth suppliers in Europe. This season we started to push some boundaries in morning wear and dinner wear, and we are so excited as we have already had some amazing feedback from our customers. This season we also introduced some new items to our casual line that we intend to make them part of the Oliver Brown signature.

2. What was the inspiration behind this collection?

We had different inspirations for each line and approached each collection differently. Our casual wear was inspired by the desert, and luxurious desert homes that are an architectural oasis in the middle of the arid landscape. We worked with the warm colours of these landscapes and used natural fabrics like linen.

The urban line is inspired by contemporary urban architecture, for the man that enjoys an urban lifestyle, nightlife, and is prepared for every unexpected event during the day.

Our evening wear range was influenced by the urban world, the colours of the night, the lights of the city in the evening, and modern architecture with cold and dark tones.

Our morning wear range brings a bohemian and nostalgic feel, bringing new colours and natural textures for the collection. For our wedding range, we used pastel tones, to evoke a sense of bohemia and romanticism.

3. What makes this different from previous summer collections?

This season we invested in luxurious cloths in all our lines to really elevate the offering. We are also introducing some new classic products, such as tailored trench coats and some amazing check linen jackets that all demonstrate the Oliver Brown signature style.

4.What can fabrics and colours can we expect to see?

This Summer we made our traditional suits, gilets, and trousers with 100% Irish linens. As always linen is huge for Summer, its such a versatile fabric, I love it. We have even created our first linen dinner suit, its perfect for summer weddings, especially abroad in hot climates. We also worked with shower proof cloth, for our Oxley Raincoat and introduced some luxurious items in wool and silk blends, I think our customers will really love them.

5. What are your favourite pieces?

Tough question, as I really love the whole collection. My favourite piece for this season in morning wear is the  Double Breasted waistcoat in plain blossom. It's the perfect choice for a summer wedding or a day at Ascot. In casual wear, it has to be the trousers with coin pocket – Navy Loro Piana, offering effortless relaxed style and sophistication. From the urban collection, I love the Eaton suits made with Dormeuil Exel cloth, a super high performance cloth which has 100% extra natural stretch without elastane, making it incredibly comfortable and durable, a piece you'll have for year's to come.

6. Sustainability has played a big part of this collection, tell us more?

At Oliver Brown, the quality of our products is paramount and we are recognised for our partnerships with local mills and suppliers that share our values. For SS22, linen played a big part in the range. Linen is a natural fibre, and it is recognised as one of the most environmentally sustainable fibres to produce. This season we worked with Irish environmentally certificated linens. In our range we also included Norman linens from France with natural softness and drape. This linen is produced in a co-operative structure traceable from the field, respecting crop rotation and promoting the development of local producers.

7.What are the trends for this year’s wedding season?

The wedding collection this season has a vintage, natural and bohemian feel and we included new colours such as brick orange, green and natura. We also kept a range of pastel colours for waistcoats and introduced some items to our luxury line of silk waistcoats and light weight trousers.

8. Royal Ascot this year is set to be bigger than ever. What are your top tips for Ascot dressing?

Feel comfortable and show personality through your waistcoat, tie and pocket square. Royal Ascot happens during the high Summer therefore I would also recommend a pair of lightweight trousers to keep you cool. Our navy morning suit is new this season and will make you stand out for all the right reasons.

9. Travel is very much back in 2022. What are your go-to pieces from the collection for summer holiday style?

I really love the striped trousers this season in Loro Piana cloth. They are lightweight, perfect for hot weather and can be styled with a plain t-shirt or shirt and jacket for evening soirees. You cant go wrong with a classic linen suit and the Pimlico Suit can be worn as separates, and dressed up or down! Our new Aircel shirts are crafted in super breathable cotton, featuring an open weave, making them lightweight and crease resistant, perfect for travelling.

10. Linen is huge this season for Oliver Brown. What are the hero pieces?

My favourite linens for SS22 are the check linens Balcon sur mer, Escale and Nuit. They are made with soft linen with natural drape. The checks bring style and rich textures to your look. They have already been receiving an amazing response from our customers, so don't delay if you have your eye on one of the pieces, they will sell out for sure!
